Ferrybridge And the Dragons Teeth 11th/12th oct

I fished are monthly match at ferrybridge on Saturday from 4pm-12pm .The wind was forecast to drop to about 10mph but it was closer to 20mph .So we were greeted with a choppy sea and rafts of weed which made fishing difficult to start with so I sat back and waited for it to ease off and it did just before dark however I stuck too one rod to keep it simple with others fishing very close. The fish were there from the off with codling ,jumbo pout ,Pollock and poor cod  to weigh in and I still come last but not to worry it's just a bit of fun  pffffffffffffff!. I still had all my bait left at the end of the match as someone gave me 1lb of rag half a lb of blow lug a bag a peelers and a bag of squid on arrival as they gave up fighting the weed. So to make the most of the weekend! I had a kip in the car then fished past the dragons to teeth .The conditions were now totally different with a very cold N/E -E wind and a flat sea with no weed in sight. And the fishing started great with 2 c

After getting back to the car we decided to head on to the next venue before getting some sleep ready for the next days fishing .I think we managed 4 hours sleep but we were awaken by heavey rain and strong winds so glad we didn't camp on the beach ! We stocked up on bait at Abbotsbury before setting up are home for the next 24 hours .As David had so much gear I drove down the road to drop it all of insted of walking all along the beach although I thought we would be less likely to find Davids cod in this spot.Fishing started well though with another codling and lovely Tub Gurnard for me So I was now hopeful . But we needed the wind to die down as it was getting rather cold! All of my fish were being caught at distance and this is probably why David couldn't connect with anything in daylight.I however now had a nice plaice all be it on a pulley pennel rig this does happens more often then you would think this time of year when people are fishing for cod I alway thought  S

A week of Fishing ,Trip 4 Mission Cod ! ...Part one

This Trip was all about getting my cousin David who I hadn't fished with for 12 years or so his first ever cod. He had come all the way down from kent for three days solid fishing so I was praying the weather wouldn't ruin things as the forecast for Saturday morning was for strong winds and rain .So from my previous few sessions I decided we would fish the Portland end first as it seemed to be fishing better .David had his heart set on camping on the beach but I had to get this idea out of his head as we were going to be walking 45minutes towards the bridging camp and with the possibility of thunderstorms from 4am I wasn't prepared to be out in the middle of nowhere with this and he also had enough fishing gear to sink a boat!! so we were not going to be doing the walk twice once is plenty! we finally made it to the mark around 5pm with a nice calm sea and sunny weather so I put my rods out before helping david to set up his shockline on his reels and the rigs I made him as

Fished with club member Colin this weekend and we set up just before the teeth .I missed a few knocks early on where as Colin was reeling in gurnards, bream and his biggest plaice to date just under 2lbs ,the guy next to him was also catching plaice close in so there was a few about .So note to self don't target the cod when it was perfect for plaice ! When i did down size the hooks I did manage a few fish with this double shot of gurnard and bream coming right on low water I also had a nice big tub gurnard but put him straight back with out a picture. It went very quiet during darkness other then one dog fish and a big pull down of which i missed .Then the wind really got up about 11:00 pm and it started to rain but I wasn't really kitted out for this weather so having plenty of bait still I decided to get out of the rain and have few hours kip before fishing another venue That venue ended up being Ferrbridge at the Portland end of Chesil .The conditions were now fantastic
