Chesil Hunter's Fishing Reports

I had a bash Tuesday and  arrived to find water was very dirty , It started off ok with 2 smooth hounds in the first 30mins this was just before low tide  they were both taken on ragworm /squid  .It then went dead for 4 hours until a bream showed up and not long after a nice gurnard.                          Returned alive just decided to flip around for the photo                               Also had some poor cod in the evening and  missed a cracking  pull down . So not the greatest of sessions but will be back down the Abbotsbury end at the weekend to target cod and plaice !

Headed down to Abbotsbury after work Thursday in search for a cod .On arival I was greated with a strong southwesterly wind but it was  fishable . I Had my first  knock on my rag bait just as the sun was going down and in come a a little codling Bites were few and far between  with only a coulpe pout and poor cod  showing up but i did manage one more codling around 1am so I was happy with that. I then had 3 hours kip before giving ferrybridge ago .The fishing was not great I only managed a bream ,bass and mackerel at the end of which there was plenty                                         Hopefully I will get out again on Tuesday

With all the codling reports I had to give it a go so arrived at my mark around 6pm. I  set rigs up with cod in mind so 4/0 hooks and one with size #4 for smaller fish it was more or less bites from the off first up was a loveley sized gurnard quickly followed by another 2 smaller ones pictured bellow and a starry smooth hound . The sun was going down when I got my target codling all be it a little one but I was happy none the less. I then had my second starry hound of the night on a pulley pennel rig with dungy/suid .  Around midnight I had a shoal of  large pout which were hitting both rods. I hit the deck for a few hours kip then Saturday morning seen me in to some more gurnard and two red mullet I also had some dogfish and poor cod

Not the greatest of weekends for me I was hoping the fishing might have picked up at the western end of chesil but maybe its still recovering from the storms .Very few fish to report had a double shot of pout on a pennel rig                 Then this slippery chap                      And then my mate arrived!             I also had a quick bash monday night with little results at the portlland end just a small bream ,poor cod and some nice sized mackerel of which come from a huge shoal in another feeding frenzy like the video earlier in the year which is great to see
