The plan was to fish Saturday but  didn't fancy spending my birthday in the driving rain and wind so left it until today in the hope it would be fishable .As it turned out first thing this morning I was greeted by a large swell which took two of my rigs but i new it would improve as the wind was switching to the N/E  and the tide was nearly at low so I didn't fish for a couple hours .Low tide arrived and there was a huge change in the conditions so I got  my rigs baited with rag and lug and put them out as  far as i could. I didn't have to wait long before the fish were on the bait my target was bass but i had as nice little surprise first This was the start of a crazy 30 minutes or so when I had 3 codling and a smoothhound The day really did fly by with fish on almost every cast a couple hours after my hatirck of codling I had   a slackliner only to find a whiting on the end with a big bite taken out of it!

Fished Abbotsbury over night but could not get past the dogfish and whiting .Before darkness the spider crabs were really bad i must have had 30 snoods cut by them .Didn't have much bait left to fish today which was a shame as it was looking like it was going to be a much more productive day what with a local chap getting in to the plaice on the off and me with a nice dab at about 70 yards out on lug/ragworm And the Mackerel have now started to show so hopefully the fishing is set to kick off now!!

Fished are monthly club match today and true to form the weather wasn't pleasant but it was forecast to be much worse and considering the conditions we did well to get a variety of species between 8 of us which included a couple bass ,codling, whiting, rockling, dab and flounder the winning fish being a bass mine below was just under size and both bass were taken on whole squid

I had a day trip to west bexington this Sunday ,my first visit there since the storms and discovered the nice hard track at the back of the beach is now under shingle so I didn't walk as far as normal .I used lug.rag, squid and a mix at times the water was of milky colour but clearing .There was plenty of fish about when I arrived 2 hours before low tide but then it died off which is unusual as I normally do  better after low tide .Species landed were more of the same I am afraid whiting, rockling, big dogfish!,and bass                                             Tiny Rockling                                       some fine bass coming out this year and early to !!                                                                                    Big dog fish just as sun went down
